Damp, Mould and Timber Specialists Across Dorset
Dorset is our home county and where the majority of our work sits. It gives us three very different damp problems in one place: dense Victorian and Edwardian terraces in the conurbation, exposed coastal housing from Sandbanks round to Weymouth, and rural stone and cob properties inland around Blandford, Sherborne and the Blackmore Vale.

What we find in Dorset
Our surveyors are based in the county and work across it daily, so we know how a chine-side property behaves differently from a chalk-valley cottage — and we quote for what is actually in front of us.
The BH postcodes are dominated by pre-1939 brick housing with suspended timber ground floors, plus a very large stock of 1960s–80s converted flats along the seafront. Inland DT areas bring solid stone, cob and lime-rendered construction where modern cement repairs have often done more harm than the original damp.

Four things that go wrong in Dorset
Not a generic list. These are the defects our surveyors record most often at this postcode.
- 01
Driven rain on coastal elevations
South-west facing walls from Bournemouth to Weymouth take repeated saturation. Marginal pointing that would survive inland fails here.
- 02
Bridged damp-proof courses
Decades of patio raising and drive levelling has buried DPCs across the conurbation — our single most common finding.
- 03
Sub-floor decay
Blocked or buried airbricks in terraced streets lead to joist-end rot under otherwise sound-looking floors.
- 04
Cement on lime buildings
Inland stone and cob repaired in cement render traps moisture and pushes it into internal finishes.
A four-stage job in BH6 remains our reference case: heavily salt-damaged plaster to a ground-floor room, hacked back, new damp-proof course and membrane installed, then replastered and finished. The photographs of that job appear across this site.
