The problem

Damp is rarely one problem. A single wet wall can be rising moisture through failed masonry, water tracking laterally through saturated brickwork, a bridged damp-proof course under a raised path, or condensation collecting on a cold internal surface. Each of those has a different fix, and treating the wrong one is why so many homeowners pay twice.

Every Proofterior job starts with a moisture survey — calibrated meter readings, salt analysis where relevant, external inspection of ground levels, pointing and rainwater goods, and a written report you keep. Only then do we specify works, at a fixed price, carried out by our own directly employed teams.

How we handle it

From first reading to registered guarantee

The same five stages on every job, whether it is one wall or a whole property.

  1. 01

    Moisture survey

A qualified surveyor takes readings at multiple heights, inspects ground levels and rainwater goods externally, and lifts finishes where necessary to see the substrate.

  2. 02

    Written diagnosis

You receive a report that names the mechanism, shows where it is active, and separates urgent structural work from cosmetic reinstatement.

  3. 03

    Fixed specification

A line-by-line quotation. No day rates, no allowances that grow once the walls are open, and no pressure to sign on the visit.

  4. 04

    Remedial works

Our own teams hack off, treat, re-render with a salt-retardant system and reinstate. Dust control and daily clean-down are standard.

  5. 05

    Guarantee and handover

Photographic records, product data sheets and a 25-year workmanship guarantee registered against the property address.

Questions

Damp Proofing — answered

Often not. A large share of the walls we survey are wet for a reason that injection would not touch — a bridged DPC, a leaking gully, a failed lead flashing or condensation. We only specify injection where readings and salt profile genuinely indicate rising moisture.

A single wall in an average terraced or semi-detached home is usually two to three days including replastering. Whole-property work runs to one or two weeks. We give you a working programme with the quotation.

New render needs time to cure and release construction moisture. Allow roughly a week per 5mm of thickness before using a mist coat of breathable emulsion, and avoid vinyl papers or oil-based paint for the first few months.

Yes. The 25-year workmanship guarantee is registered against the property, so it passes to a buyer and can be produced for a mortgage valuer or solicitor.
