The problem

Mould needs three things: spores, a food source and moisture. The first two are in every building. Remove the moisture and mould cannot grow, which is why cleaning it off without addressing the cause simply resets the clock by a few weeks.

We remediate to a defined standard — containment, HEPA extraction, biocidal treatment of the substrate rather than the surface, and safe disposal of contaminated materials — and we always issue a written cause and prevention plan alongside it.

How we handle it

From first reading to registered guarantee

The same five stages on every job, whether it is one wall or a whole property.

  1. 01

    Establish the moisture source

Condensation, leak, rising or penetrating damp — remediation without this step is temporary.

  2. 02

    Contain the area

Sheeting and negative pressure where contamination is significant, to protect the rest of the property.

  3. 03

    Remove and treat

HEPA vacuum, mechanical removal, then a biocidal wash worked into the substrate.

  4. 04

    Replace what cannot be saved

Porous materials — plasterboard, insulation, sealant, carpet backing — cut out and disposed of correctly.

  5. 05

    Prevent recurrence

Ventilation, insulation or damp works specified so the surface stays above dew point.

Questions

Mould Removal — answered

Bleach removes the colour and leaves the hyphae and the moisture behind, so the growth returns. It also adds water to the surface. A biocidal treatment applied after the source is fixed is the only durable route.

We arrange air and surface sampling where a health or legal question needs answering. For the majority of domestic cases the species does not change the remediation.

Where a vulnerable occupant is affected we prioritise the survey — usually within a few working days across our coverage area.
