A clean, wide, well-built cavity takes insulation without any difficulty. A narrow cavity full of mortar snots, on a coastal elevation taking driven rain, is a different matter — the fill bridges the gap and moisture crosses to the inner leaf.
We borescope before we recommend. Where existing fill has failed and is causing damp, we extract it, dry the cavity and specify an alternative that works on that elevation.
