Roof coatings get a mixed reputation, and often deservedly — applied over failing tiles they hide the defect and trap moisture. Applied to a sound, cleaned, correctly prepared covering, a breathable coating does reduce absorption and moss regrowth.
We only quote coating work where the roof structure and covering warrant it, and we will tell you when repair or re-covering is the better spend.

Roof Coatings and Re-Covering — answered
No. A leak is a defect and needs repairing. A coating reduces water absorption and moss growth on a roof that is already sound.
A properly prepared and applied breathable system typically gives ten to fifteen years, depending on exposure.
Only if the wrong product is used. We specify vapour-permeable coatings so the covering can still release moisture.
